Damn Rick Davies' wife for driving Roger Hodgson out of this incredible band. So much of what I love about music in general is due to influences from bands like this. And while Supertramp without Roger Hodgson - and Roger's own solo projects - are great, there's nothing like the synergy that Roger and Rick had when they did albums together.

Although John Helliwell's playing an alto sax in this video, he actually used a tenor saxophone on the recording John Helliwell is playing (he added a baritone sax overdub on the melodica solo). Roger Hodgson did all the voices, piano and synthesizers. Rick Davies on melodica and additional synthesizers. Dougie Thomson on bass guitar and Bob Siebenberg on drums. Beautiful song. Ironically was Supertramp's last US Top 20 hit in the fall of 1982. You don't get videos like this anymore.

Also Roger Hodgson and his wife had a daughter in 1979 and a son in 1981 and he wanted to be a devoted dad. Also, Hodgson's then wife and Rick Davies' wife hated each other. Roger's proud of this song (and Don't Leave Me Now) but wasn't happy with the rest of Famous Last Words. On a US radio interview in 1990 with well respected DJ Redbeard he felt Breakfast in America should have been Supertramp's last album. He felt FLW was a last ditch attempt effort to reignite the band but it was the end.
