The age of sexual consent in the Philippines is just 12 - one of the lowest in the world.
It is estimated that some 2 million children are sexually abused in the Philippines every year, with thousands forced into prostitution.
Campaigners want the age of consent raised to 16 but, as Marga Ortigas reports from Manila, the authorities are showing little enthusiasm to change things.

It doesn't advocate slavery, it recognizes it and addresses it. Sharia law is an interpretation of their holy book, the Koran. Women are told to esteem the wife of Mohammed who said to 'submit to their husband in all things'. They justify sex with children because Mohammed had sex with a child. Islam isn't just a religion; it has rules for every aspect of life. What Muslim country has a good human rights record according to Amnesty International? I rest my case.

Christian women are not treated like chattel in the New Testament. Your basic misunderstanding of the Bible has you thinking that rules in the OT are still in effect. Jesus came to fulfill the law, we Christians have two commandments. First, love the Lord, our God, will all our might and our neighbors as ourselves. Secondly, to spread the Gospel to all the Earth. firstly, i am an atheist, for the very reason that all the abrahamic religions are nonsensical. if the ot is now irrelevant, why do so many christians still cling to it and invoke passages from it? why do people want the 10 commandments in US schools? no one is saying sex with kids is right hence my previous points about the age of consent in muslim countries. the equivalent would be condoning rape because of judges 19. things move on, attitudes change; as such 2000 yo scriptures are irrelevant

I guess you didn't understand the word 'sanctification' then. I think that ANY moral code whether it's atheistic like Marxism or religious like Christianity should all be judged on how well they've worked. Of course, the judge should be impartial, but most opinions come from an emotional reaction. There is no system of gov't based on Islam that can be called successful by modern standards. That's my point.

I consider pedophiles to be the lowest scum on the face of the earth. They come to the Philippines to exploit young children and use that ancient law to their advantage. The Spanish only made that law because in those days a 12 year old was considered a young adult. Now it is abused and children cannot be protected. I agree that the age of consent should be raised to 16 years old. I also congratulate Stairway Foundation on their great work. I saw the play. Amazing.
