Please quote me. What have I said that shows any lack of knowledge on either sport? I'm on record as defending the MMA fighters themselves, even admitted it was a more complete fighting style etc. As a whole, the sport has a long way to go before being considered anywhere near as legit. as boxing. There's no way in hell a WWE star (former am. wrestler or not) would get a title shot after a couple of fights in a boxing ring, and he definitely wouldn't win. UFC went for the ratings, ala WWE.

Silva is an extraordinary striker. My point is that Silva only has one win in Pro Boxing and they are negotiating this fight. Like Lesnar Silva is getting a chance at a fighter of Roy's caliber because of popularity not merit. Conventional wisdom would suggest that even shot Roy would destroy Silva in Boxing but Silva wants this fight. Maybe he knows something we don't about his skill level. You should listen to Roy's Sherdog interview about the fight. He gives reasons for why Silva is a threat.

Anderson Silva has great hands and footwork. The elite MMA strikers that cross-train in Boxing could hold their own in a Boxing match with the Boxing elite though logically they'd be outclassed. In MMA a Boxer stands a puncher's chance, standing against an MMA striker but even in his prime Jones would stand little chance against Silva standing under MMA rules. Silva has too many weapons and ways to dismantle a Boxer.

Tydyjav, this argument could be made if MMArtists made as much or slightly more money than Boxers but they don't. MMA is the most challenging combat sport in the world. No doubt about it. But Boxers make so much more money. That's the only reason why they don't compete. David Haye for one is an MMA fan and says he will compete after he retires from Boxing. I respect him. He challenges himself. But until MMA salaries compete with Boxing's you shouldn't act as if Boxers are afraid of MMA.
