Metal didn't come from punk, it formed directly from blues. Black Sabbath invented metal. Tony Iommi and Ozzy and Geezer and Bill were a polka-blues band called Earth before they found out that name was already taken, and Geezer had a creepy experience after reading the satanic bible, and told Ozzy, who wrote the lyrics to the song Black Sabbath, and Tony and Geezer wrote the music. Punk formed from Metal, not vise versa.

Actually no I'm not. Punk couldn't have influenced metal. 1. Metal was created by Tony Iommi, who began playing differently when the tips of his fingers were cut off. 2. Punk didn't come out until after metal had been around for a while. Punk was referred to as the death of heavy metal. 3. There's no way in hell that the greatest music in the universe came from that crap.
