Mazakiel is right. Being a purist is the same thing as being close-minded. Both black metal and religion follow a set of virtually unchangeable ideals. Be open to anything. For example, I have 10,000 songs in my music library. I have death metal, black metal, prog metal, thrash, you name it. But I also have pop, fusion, classic rock, funk, electronica, opera, and jazz. AND I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT :)

btw, I like Dimmu Borgir because they have a good sense of musicality and don't sound "dumbed down", meaning, it doesn't sound like they pick this or that riff because that's all they know how to play. They are creative and able to do quite a bit within their style. From a bigger context, (and not trying to offend anyone), they are just a pretty good band from Norway with decent songs and some variety. But at least they don't let the "black metal" name make them sound unoriginal or uninspired.

remember, the record company is the one organizing and making, and promoting all the dimmu gear that comes out. they have to try to make money since internet downloading is killing the music biz. so don't blame the bands for lots of crap with their name on it, they are making a living, and doing what the contracts they signed to play for you to hear, tell them to do.
