Yes she did screw up the lyrics--She sang "why you let the way you did get so out of hand" and "jesus christ superstar who are you what have you sacrificed." She has a great voice but I mean how can you beat Carl Anderson? It would be an insult to him to say she did.

I'm not familiar to the lyrics of the song, but she did a studio version of this song and it is great, go and check it out, there is a reason why Andrew L.W chose this song for her, and Carl Anderson (although he is great) is simply not in the same league as Carly's vocal prowess and her incredible range. I guess i was ignorant to say that she is much better than Carl in the first place. Oh well, music is subjective afterall.

Personally, I think Ben Vereen beats both Carl and Carly. But this isn't a musical, it's a vocal number. She's not part of a story, she's singing a song. And she does it pretty damn well -- and she shouldn't've been kicked off for this performance.

The problem was the catholics, not the atheists. The play is saying that jesus was a man and nothing more, but the catholics can't accept this as an opinion and an alternate view, so they voted her off. I thought the controversy would have died down in the 40 years that have passed since it opened.

I totally agree. The ONLY reason she went home was because of what the song she was singing was discussing; I don't think that it had anything to do with her performance because her performance was absolutely amazing.
