Slayer isn't death metal at all. They are a thrash metal band plain and simple. They don't really have any of the traits of death metal. Not much overly technical riffing, no odd time signatures, never really any abrupt tempo changes, and no "death" vocals. The band "Death" is an example of death metal while Slayer has always been trash metal if one needs to define their music more accurately.

And just for extra note on the nazi thing, the lyric "Auschwitz, the meaning of pain, the way that I want you to die". Auschwitz was a Nazi concentration camp, one of the biggest. Then later with "Destroying, without mercy, To benefit the Aryan race". It all adds up.
