I saw these guys with Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies in 1991. They definitely jam live. Sound-wise, they were better than S.T. (who were mic'd way too loud). And the "pit" was the biggest I have ever seen; four big pits on basketball court merged into one huge pit...must have been a thousand or more people. Out of control spectacle during "Toxic Waltz"!!

In my youth before the 90's The metal bands some heavy metal but more agresive who play the music a little more fast was called Speed Metal. Bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthax, M.O.D., S.O.D., Testament, Overkill, Vio-Lence, Nuclear Assault, etc. I have a Rock magazine from 1987 and inside Megadeth was called Speed Metal Band. Thrash Metal are bands like Kreator, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, Sodom, Sepultura, Death, Obituary, etc. If this not true I live with a lie the last 21 years.

no speed metal was like the ancestor of thrash, bands like accept, ozzy, or even like maiden i guess. Why u say metallica anthrax ecc. are speed, they are the bands who created thrash, never heard of the big four of thrash metal? sodom and kreator ecc. are still thrash but they sound a bit different cause they were born in germany, and there the music style was kind of different from the one in america, and other bands u said, are pretty different from thrash and are considered as death metal!
