i think you're right. they coined the term, but by todays standards, this was pretty dark when it first came out.

This is far, FAR from Motorhead. Most of MH's songs were just fast boogies. This is the brith of black/death metal. It may not suit todays standards of what DM/BM is now, but back then this was the most brutal **** anyone had ever heard, and it blew peoples minds.

Not only that but Slayer's version is terrible. The voice is all wrong for this song. Tom should have sung the WHOAAA-OHH HELL BREAKS LOOSE!! part in his highest scream. Kreator's version, while not great either, is better than Slayer's hideously bad cover. And I like Slayer.

The first chorus at the start of the song where Cronos yells: "Hells breaking loose!!" looks like something out of a Dario Argento horror film; absolutely DEMONIC with the light shining up on only his evil looking mug and a faint shadow of Jeff behind him. And that wah wah on the guitar in the extro solo sends shivers up my spine. I'd love to know Jeffs guitar setup on that.

1984's "The 7th Date of Hell" or 1985's "Hell at Hammesmith"? It looks as if the video was shot at the Hammersmith, but those are studio recordings.

This isn't off Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The version of Witching Hour from that video was recorded in 1985 at Hammersmith which can be seen on the VHS Hell at Hammersmith. This video is just their 1984 tour intro tape + studio recordings of both songs over the top of footage recorded just for the songs. None of this is an actual live concert.

thanks johnedee, I was wondering what song by Venom was on the documentary A Headbanger's Journey. They played about 10 seconds of Bloodlust. I found a live CD of them in fleamarket in MD but its not on that one. Their albums are kinda rare. Ive never come across one in AR where I live.

Actually, listening to it a bit more it could be a live recording. But its not from Ein Kleine Nachtmusik. Perhaps some other. If anyone knows I'd like to find out.
