dude thanks for sharing some information about metal. I personally find some of the wikipedia information useful, but not all of them. Calling Zeppelin & Sabbath as gay makes no sense. People may dress up like pussies (like glam musicians but they could be straight), others may try to look like badass (Like Halford of Priest) but be gay.I consider Zeppelin, Sabbath, Hendrix and Deep Purple as the forefathers of heavy music but Sabbath is the biggest influence on all heavier and extreme genres.

Zeppelin influenced rock, hard rock and glam scene. I guess real heavy metal was born when Sabbath members realized how people paid lots of money to get scared from horhor movies. If they didn't use satan and scary stuff in their lyrics, now we would be repeating love words millions of times. There is a part you wrote thrash came to US. Thrash is actually invented in US. All the other speed, fast, NWOBHM, hardcore and etc influenced thrash but genre is invented in US.

And another thing my friend, everyone has different point of views. I personally like hard rock, NWOBHM and thrash, but I listen all the other genres of heavy metal (Except, glam metal, nu metal, rap metal and alternative metal) but I don't think if a band is not using death growls or not the loudest or not the extreme doesn't mean they are pussies. I guess it's more of their lyrics and their image in front of fans that make them a pussy or gay. That's why most people consider glam as gay.

Dude Pantera is not power metal. It's way different than power. they were glam when they started, you can even find their glam videos on utube. eddie van halen influenced them a lot. Then they got big influence from thrash genre and they changed their style. Yeah they are groove.

But "metal" has not started in the late '60s. Sabbath and all those bands played different styles of hard rock, but neither of them might be called "metal" until the second half of the '70s, when Judas Priest and later other bands started defining the genre itself.

The Beatles may have not directly influenced their sound, but u hear it in Black Sabbaths Changes. Ozzys favorite Beatles song? In My Life. But ur right.
