If you dont have it already, buy the godsmack dvd. i saw them in boston 3 years ago at the fleet center with metallica. incredible show. they blew metallica away but im sure they layed it on extra thick being in their home city. sully is a great guy. i met him at a 107.3 WAAF signing for their first album in 99.

AIC was their influence dude. and so were a bunch of other bands. every artist/musician has influences. listen to stevie ray vaughan. every lick he plays is a hendrix lick or albert king and a few others. not saying youre wrong about their style but sully is a talented musician and they do a lot of different things than AIC. Not to mention their music sells. Someone out there must like 'em ;)

I wouldn't mind all the negativity if AIC were still a band when Godsmack formed, to me they were filling a gap that had been opened, and their sound has eveolved over 10 years, I love Godsmack, I love AIC, and the 2 can co-exhist quite happily imo

No, Metallica was an INFLUENCE for AIC, more than likely, but they sure as hell didnt steal Metallica's logo and, the band name was something Layne Staley came up with, it wasn't printed on the back of a cd by a more talented band. As for the Nirvana thing, you obviously don't know anything about Alice in Chains or probably even Nirvana for that matter because Alice in Chains broke nationwide a full year before Nirvana did.
