I have found that most people that say that rap has no meaning are not to be taken seriously. This is because most(if not all) of the people that say this only know what they saw on BET or MTV for 2 minutes(or the local urban radio station) and have not taken the time to find out more about the genre. And I think that anyone that knows anything about music PERIOD would know that more often than not the best of most music genres is not what is presented to the mainstream.

First off, don't tell me what kind of music I listen to. I used to listen to just Rap and Hip-Hop, I listen to all kinds of mainstream and all kinds of underground. In fact one of my favorite artists was an underground Detroit rapper. Just because I don't listen to it now doesn't mean I don't know anything about it, it means that I realized that the genre has went downhill. I still appreciate a Tupac song, or even some Bone Thugs, but "rappers" like Soulja Boy and Lil' Wayne are a disgrace.

I have to agree with you on that. I love some good Tupac but most (not all) nowadays is crappy. I mainly listen to rock and classics such as Fuel or Clapton(obviously)but there is nothing like some rap to get you pumped up to do something.
