I was learning what my instructor tells me is "wudang" style t'ai chi, which is more focused on the self defence. No matter where i look on the net, cant find anything on it. Anyone else heard of wudang style? Seriously, this video makes me wanna go back to that class... this kid has spent HOURS practicing EVERY day to get to that level. But im merely stating the obvious.

There really is no way around the soft internal concept. Tai Chi is terrible without knowing how to control your internal energy. Even the Wutang follow that. I didn't study with them for very long but there concepts are very similar the Chen style.

Beautiful form, the kid do a wonderful job, but there is a problem in the information of the video, it seem to be not based in the 13postures of Chang Sang Feng, appears to based his art in punching maybe is a type of kung fu, like the pao chui mixed with the tai chi of wudang. I saw the Motions of the child and are very exaggerated, to much for taichi, beautiful but cannot use it in Tui Shou, remember that when the circle is smaller and you cannot detect it then the master throw you far away,

with little movements you do big things, 4 grams defeat 500 kilos. That's why for most people watch Tai chi is bored, don`t stay in the appearance, look for the essence. Always in the chen family the principal art is pao chui, with his very powerful punch, it is a excellent kung fu but is not tai chi, the older tai chi come from wudang. Only the art that use 13 postures is Tai Chi, Other martial arts have their own laws. Don`t stay in the appearance and confuce the arts, look for the essence.

Chen Wang Ting created Chen style by using and refining movements that were already in use from other boxing styles. Chen style is known for its Fajin. This child's Shifu is Wang Xi'An. One of four of the top exponents of Chen Shi Taijiquan. What is more believable... a man dreamed Taiji into existence or a seasoned general synthesized it? Until I see a Wudan practitioner defy physics with their Taiji then I stick with reality. I do think they have solid Martial Skills though.

You are correct DarranHight, The Chen Style is a powerful Martial Art, and beautiful as all can see in the video, all my respects to the Masters of that Style. I Believe in the "man dreamed Taiji into existance" (Chang San Feng), and Yang Lu Chang art". I also believe the general Chen Wan Ting create the Chen Style. Thats why both are not differet styles, they are differet martial arts. So the art all can see in the video with the child, cannot compare with the art of Ma Yu Liang or Wu Tunan.

I can dig that. The principles of Chan su Jin are similar enough. There are many styles of Gong Fu that have the same names but are just different enough to be considered unique. Chen is Taiji, Yang style is just as both Wu styles... we all are part of the same family with the Wudan style. In my humble opinion :) Thank you for the nice reply.

Is good to be family, agree with you, all the styles must be friends: Taoism family, internal martial arts family, etc. Good wishes is Ok. But not confuce. We can tell apart between 2 Martial Arts for two characteristics, the origin and his methods In this case the 2 differ in their origin, and as a Tai Chi from Chang Sang Feng, I can tell you that my art differs plenty of what I have investigated is Chen style, the following text is my point of view.

Wu Tunan visited the Chen Villiage in 1917. To meet Chen Xin, before Chen Xin's book was published. In the interview with Wu Tu Nan, he said that both Taiji and the indigenous Pao Chui was practiced in the villiage but that Taiji came down from Jiang Fa, also introduced Wu to Du Yu Wan who practiced Taiji and who said his art came down from Jiang Fa who was of the Wudang lineage, Du's subsequent book on Taijiquan in 1935 confirms the authenticity and accuracy of Wu Tu Nan's interview material.

I'm sooo envious. I want to learn it so bad ,but I can't find a real master to teach me. I want to learn the chen style. It's just so beautieful, powerfull and centered.

What a talented kid! To be able to have the paitence to practice whilst lots of the kids in the west are fat, lazy and play stupid video games and tv inside, nice mixture of Xinja and pao choi (new frame & cannon fist). Big Respect!

Not putting anyone down just telling how it is. In the west childhood obesity and diabetes is soaring. Kids are becoming more disrespectful etc. Maybe doing martial arts for real instead of video games could help. And you are correct, yes i have a long, long way to go.
