good point. i missed the end of the thrash era .this was when i started going to gigs. things were different by then. if the classic thrash bands were still together, then their albums were not (for the most) great. with thrash dead, grunge took its place. if i wanted something heavy, i could have followed the death metal scene, but that didnt (for me) have the same OOMPH. so yeah the only big metal bands then that were heavy and popular were sepultura and pantera.

ur on drugs i love metallica but common pantera made cowboys from hell and vulgar display of power infact all their albums were awesome. Pantera still beats all of the and although not all their stuff was thrash they should be in the top 4 thrash metal bands replacing slayer.

didnt listen to em. so cant comment. but it wasn't thrash... there were a few heavy bands around back then, granted, but it wasn't just the heaviness that was important... thrash grooved as well and had a feel good factor about it. this is what most modern metal lacks. thrash was heavy, but not necessarily for the sake of it (except slayer!).
