yes. we did need to drop the a-bomb. had we not dropped the a-bomb on japan a million more american troops would have died trying to seize the island. Japan was not going to stop. and it's not like they didn't know the a-bomb was coming. The navy sent planes that dropped pamphlets over the target sites telling them that they were gonna get bombed. Japan still didn't back down. They had a shot.

You are right. However it wasn't only about the military casualties. More Japanese civilians would've died if the US had gone through with a full blown invasion, than all the people that died after the 2 A-Bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I admit it wasn't the most humane choice, but comparing it to the other alternative, it was considerably better than sending 1 million men off to die along with an unimaginable number of japanese people.

This song is about Jerry's father. He served in the Army in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. I know, because not only did I go to High School with Jerry Cantrell, I have met the "Rooster" himself. The Vietnamese had no word for Eagle, so they called the 101st the "Chicken Men" because of their patch. Henceforth, the Rooster. He was a medic, and told me all kinda stuff. I still joined the Army, and I got 4 years left. HOO-AH!!!
