they didnt axe lanegan, the touring schedule was too harsh and the environment was making his drug problem worse, at the time josh said that mark was "gonna die if he didnt get help" so he had to quit the band

are you kidding me thats one of their best live songs, treat urself ,and find a copy of better living through chemistry "live from the ancienne belgique" is on a b-side compilation torrent on pirate bay, even though i love the fade in/fade out in that song on rated r, that show is way better then the album version and its is probably the best ive ever heard josh and troy have play

they axed bc at the time of the lullabies tour lanegan had to support his solo album. he finished the tour with qotsa. but now he has a ton of side projects, but he still sings backgrounds on era vulgaris on a couple songs they didnt fire him he just needed to do his solo stuff and other side projects
