In reality...his voice is perfect for how Lloyd-Webber meant the Phantom to sound. Of course it is much more rock-esque now than it was in the 70s..but the Phantom score is very rockish, when you consider that it is meant to be/sound like opera. David's voice is perfect for it. He completely makes the song his own. his 'be' was perfect, and his 'only then can you belong to me' he felt that. He captured this so well and I believed every word of it. He's not only got an amazing voice, but emotion.

im a david cook fan since the first time i saw him in the audition i told my friend right away whos at my side that he will win and i was shocked when he made it...and yes, from the star all of my classmates dont know him and dont even talk about him they just talk about archie..but i keep on saying about how i feel about dc's future and im not wrong...this song is one of my favorate that keeps my hair squashh...hehhee

I agree i would not mind having him onstage as the Phantom.. i think he would need to change the style he sang it to something a little less "soulfully".. but he would still be great. He'd also have to sing the entire song!

First off, he sang the whole song in a produced version. I actually think that his "soulful" version is what makes him an awesome Phantom, he has that power and presence, yet he's diminutive in stature... a perfect phantom.

Wow, guys he's a great singer, and a great performer - but this is definitely not his bag. The phantom needs a FAR more classical voice - he would never get cast ANYWHERE around the world as the Phantom. But great singer nonetheless!
