that break at around 4:00 is fucking sweet! Martin perfectly captures the essence of being tortured on the rack on this song. fucking nailed it! unsettling... yet excellent stuff.

Well, Paradise Lost was (of course) fantastic. But I could never stand MDB or Anathema. I was commenting more on how the english death/doom scene has sort of sold out by branching off into gothic metal.

Hmm, i see your point, i only like Paradise lost's newest album ''In requiem'' cause it's atleast a bit heavy, but yeah pretty sad that they'll never make an album like ''Gothic'' anymore. New my dying bride and Anathema aint my thing though.

None of those bands play death/doom metal. Bolt Thrower is a death metal band (and a fucking fantastic one at that) as is Benediction. Carcass started out playing goregrind and then death metal then, finally, melodic death metal. Napalm Death used to be a hardcore punk band a veeeeery long time ago, then they played grindcore and now they play rather generic death metal. All good bands, but none of them play Death/Doom metal. Look up Death/Doom on wikipedia
